A look back at January

ChristmasI can’t believe January’s gone already; it feels like only yesterday we were at the Christmas do enjoying good food, wine, gambling and dodgems!!

As our year end, December was a stressful time for everyone and by Christmas we were all ready for a break. I pretty much spent two weeks sleeping or in my onesie on the sofa eating mince pies. But now we’re back and January has been amazing.

Thanks to our fabulous sales team, the IT practice is incredibly busy with new projects. So much so that our leads are busy recruiting for more consultants. We already have one due to start with us on the 4th February. 2013 is set to be an exciting year for FiT as we have ambitious plans for growth. A key feature of this will be increasing our Managed Services, and launching our Cloud Services alongside our sister company, Foundation SP.

SurpriseIt was great to have Craig and Lee back in the office; before Christmas they spent two weeks in New York building a new data centre for one of our clients, and they were really missed. And on the 8th January, Lee celebrated his 40th birthday. Jill was kind enough to bake him a delicious chocolate cake, and we covered his desk in balloons and confetti (which Craig then spent the next week throwing at me!).

January has been a busy period for planning. I spent the first couple of weeks coming up with a master plan for world domination, figuring out how we can work better with our partners, and communicate better with our clients, customers and prospects. We’ve got some really exciting plans for Q1; we’re hoping to launch a webinar series in conjunction with Dell that looks at how different technologies can help schools and colleges to enhance their students’ learning experience. And look at hosting a seminar later in the spring that considers how managed services can support IT departments.

Last week was also an important time for FiT as it was our annual company kick-off. We enjoyed a great day with our colleagues from Foundation SP, reflecting on 2012 and sharing our hopes and aspirations for 2013. It was so important for everyone to take a step back and consider the bigger picture. It’s definitely brought us closer together by uniting us with a common vision. And even more exciting is that our new stand and folders arrived. I know I’m biased but our new branding is so beautiful.

And finally this week we sent one of our Client Managers, Dan, to BETT to spend the day with Dell. BETT is a big exhibition that showcases all the latest technologies available to the education sector. Given the fabulous clients we have in this sector, it wasn’t an opportunity we wanted to pass up. Despite his aching feet, I think Dan had a great day, and managed to speak to lots of interesting people.

January’s been good, but February is set to be even better. I can’t wait!
