One of the things Foundation prides itself on is having ‘great people’. When a new employee starts, one of the things we hear most often is how friendly and helpful everyone is, and how they’ve settled in really quickly. Our partners think we’re amazing and are actively seeking to work with our team to help their customers. And our clients think we’re fabulous; we’re always receiving emails with praise for our team and how they’ve gone the extra mile.
With the company growing at such a fantastic rate, it’s left me wondering how we can continue to be ‘great’ and not drop our standards. We have a mantra here of ‘hire slowly’ to ensure we only bring the best people into our team. But what makes someone a ‘Foundation person’?
We have four company values:
It’s important that anyone working here understands and adheres to these values, but I think a Foundation person goes beyond this. In addition to our company values, I believe we have a number of internal values:
- Always going the extra mile: it doesn’t matter how busy someone is, if you have a question or need some help, our team will drop what they’re doing for you.
- Striving to be better: it’s not enough to just come to work and do your job. Everyone here is always looking for new ways to enhance what we do. A great example of this is our new monthly brown-bag sessions where someone presents on a topic, or showcases a client project.
- Believing in ‘the boat’: during our company kick-off in January, we were lucky to have Olympian Ben Hunt-Davis come and speak to us. He instilled this concept of ensuring everything we do is to make the boat go faster. Now we all have a shared vision; it means we can consider the bigger picture rather than the detail of our individual roles.
- Have fun!!: we’re all busy but it’s still important to enjoy being here. So whether it’s baking cakes, enjoying themed lunches, BBQs in the summer or shooting silly videos, we’re always thinking of new ways to make people smile every day.
